Symptom: Transmission Noise


Automatic: Transmission clicks during gear shifts, clunks when dropped into gear, or makes nosie when in 4-wheel dirve. Begin by checking your transmission fluid. If it is too low, fill the transmission with the fluid specified in your operators manual. If the noise persists call our service manager.

 

Manual: Transmission makes a clunking noise when you shift gears. You hear a grinding noise as you change gears even when you fully depress the clutch pedal.

 

 

Possible Cause:


Automatic: If corrected soon, transmission noises can be corrected with minor adjustments or repairs. However, If left untreated, they may lead to serious internal damage. Call our service manager (408) 629-4400 to get extra trouble shooting help.

 

  • The transmission fluid level is low or incorrect
  • The transmission fluid is dirty or contaminated
  • The shift linkage for the transmission needs to be adjusted
  • There is an internal problem in the transmission
  • The torque converter is bad

 

Manual: Clutch slipping will lead to friction surface damage. If not corrected, slipping will cause a major transmission malfunction. Call our service manager (408) 629-4400 to get extra trouble shooting help.
